Matline on ASTRID2
Situated at ASTRID2, MATline is a material science beamline. It uses surface science techniques under ultrahigh vacuum environments. The system is well suited for experiments in materials science, surface physics, surface catalysis and organic molecules on various surfaces. Its core elements are a Scienta electron energy analyser and a SX-700 monochromator. With the help of a multipole wiggler, the usable energy range is from 20 eV to 700 eV, with the possibility of up to 1000 eV for certain kinds of experiments. MATLine not only offers the standard surface measurements like ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS) methods, but aslo allows photoelectron diffraction (PED) and near edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (NEXAFS) measurements with the help of a 5-axis motorized manipulator.
