The AU-AMO beam line on ASTRID2
Specifications of the AU-AMO beam line
A sketch of the AU-AMO beam line, which is located on an undulator source, is shown below:
The beamline consists of the following optical elements:
- Source from an undulator with a 53 mm period, 12 mm minimum gap and 43.5 full magnetic periods
- M1: A horizontally deflecting (4 deg.) toroidal mirror. In the horizontal plane the mirror focuses the beam on the exit slit and in the vertical plane it produces a parallel beam.
- M2: A vertically deflecting flat mirror which allows the grating angles to be adjusted for maximum diffraction efficiancy.
- Gra: Plane grating (vertically deflecting) with variable groove depth. Two interchangeable gratings HEG with 1200 lines/mm and a LEG with 200 lines/mm.
- M3: A horizontally deflecting (4 deg.) cylindrical mirror. The mirror focuses the beam sagittally (vertically) on the exit slit.
- EXS: Exit slit which defines the wavelength.
- MC1: Refocusing optics, MC1a and MC1b, interchangeable mirrors to focus the beam either in the crossed beam or rf-trap interaction regions of the X-ring.
