Deadline for submission of ISA proposals: 3rd November 2026

ISA welcomes applications from national or international groups, for access to any ISA research facility for the period January-December 2027.

The majority of the available beam time will be distributed on an annual basis by an independent users selection panel, based on scientific merit. Hence all users are requested to submit a proposal and beam time request form for the period January 2027-December 2027 to ISA, by the 3rd of November 2026. There is an opportunity for support for beam time on ASTRID2 until June 2027 through the EU transnational access (TNA) programme NEPHEWS, more details are given below.

The remaining beam time will be distributed during the year to new proposals, test experiments and approved experiments.

Access may be granted for use of the synchrotron-radiation beam lines at ASTRID2.

For some beam lines and experiments it may be possible for projects to be carried out via sample mail-in or via remote access. If you have any questions regarding this option or the availability of a beam line during the course of this proposal period, please contact the relevant beam line scientist as listed below. EU support

For certain projects which satisfy eligibility requirements, we are able to offer support for beam time on ASTRID2.

NEPHEWS: EU access programme for synchrotron and neutron facilities. NEPHEWS has a special focus on offering support to people from one of 8 selected countries (Estonia, Finland, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine), then to those coming from EU Widening countries and users without direct access to large scale research infrastructures in their country. To apply for support under this programme, you should complete and submit the ISA proposal form requesting beam time in 2027 and indicate in the form if you wish to be considered for support under NEPHEWS.

Programmes previously offering support, MOSBRI and NEP, are closed and no longer open for beam time requests.
