Call for Proposals: January 2025-December 2025
Deadline for submission of ISA proposals: 4th November 2024
ISA welcomes applications from national or international groups, for access to any ISA research facility for the period January-December 2025.
The majority of the available beam time (ISA schedule 2025) will be distributed on an annual basis by an independent users selection panel, based on scientific merit. Hence all users are requested to submit a proposal and beam time request form for the period January 2025-December 2025 to ISA, by the 4th of November 2024. There are several opportunities for obtaining support for beam time on ASTRID2 in 2025 through EU transnational access (TNA) programmes, more details of these are given below.
The remaining beam time will be distributed during the year to new proposals, test experiments and approved experiments.
All users should contact the relevant beam line scientist (detailed below) prior to submitting a proposal.
Access will be supported for use of the synchrotron-radiation beam lines at ASTRID2.
For some beam lines and experiments it may be possible for projects to be carried out via sample mail-in or via remote access. If you have any questions regarding this option or the availability of a beam line during the course of this proposal period, please contact the relevant beam line scientist as listed below. For general scientific and technical questions you can contact:
Zheshen Li (Matline) Søren V. Hoffmann (UV, CD) Nyk Jones (UV, CD) Sergio Ioppolo (UV) Jill Miwa/Søren Ulstrup (SGM4) , Henrik B. Pedersen (AMO)
EU support
For certain projects which satisfy eligibility requirements, we are able to offer support for beam time on ASTRID2.
NEPHEWS: A new EU access programme for synchrotron and neutron facilities.NEPHEWS has a special focus on offering support to people from one of 8 selected countries (Estonia, Finland, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine), then to those coming from EU Widening countries and users without direct access to large scale research infrastructures in their country. To read more about the eligibility criteria and what is covered by this support, visit the NEPHEWS page. To apply for support under this programme, you should complete and submit the ISA proposal form requesting beam time in 2025 and indicate in the form if you wish to be considered for support under NEPHEWS. |

For the two programmes below, application for beam time is carried out directly through the EU programmes, and there is no need to also submit an ISA proposal in this call. |

MOSBRISome users of the AU-SRCD beam line (circular dichroism) have the option to apply for supported beam time through MOSBRI, an EC funded programme which runs until June 2025. If you are eligible and wish to apply for this, you do not need to submit a proposal through ISA, simply visit www.mosbri.eu and follow the instructions for application there. However, as the MOSBRI programme is nearing the end of the grant period, access to the AU-SRCD beam line with MOSBRI is somewhat limited. Anyone interested should contact Søren V. Hoffmann or Nyk Jones (details in the table above) before submitting a proposal. |

NEPThe NFFA Europe Pilot (NEP) offers access to the Matline and AU-UV beam lines if these are used in combination other types of NEP Installation(s). More information about the programme and eligibility criteria, as well as links to the proposal form, may be found in this page. |
However, if you wish to have additional beam time (not covered by either MOSBRI or NEP), then you should submit an ISA proposal.
