Application for Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM)

STSMs 2009-2010.

10/11-2010: There are no funds available for STSMs at this time.

The normal rules for STSMs still apply;

  1. Visits must be for conduct of a RESEARCH project
  2. Minimum duration 5 days, maximum 3 months (but funds limited to those below)
  3. Only one person can be supported per visit.
  4. Request up to 2500 Euros, scaled for shorter periods at 60 to 90 Euros per day, costings should be explained. Travel up to 300 Euros for one visit (included in the €2500 total). For Early stage researchers an exceptional case may be made for total cost of 3500 Euros, but is very unusual and in order to ensure widest participation I am less inclined to support these.
  5. Applications are made on line and must include a short but clear description of work programme (1 page A4); a CV and, most important, a letter from the host approving the visit.
  6. Applications should be cc to me and should be submitted one month before the visit takes place to allow time for COST office to process it after my approval. NOTE; You can not travel until you have received permission from COST Office,
  7. After the visit you must submit a short report (1 page A4 NOT one paragraph) diagrams are useful as we can use these in annual reports etc. This report must be approved by the host and must state clearly the dates over which the visit was held.

An application can be received at anytime between now and April (one month before visits to be held in May). A new call for STSMs will be made starting in July, after the second ECCL annual meeting to be held in Istanbul June 4-9,2009.
