ISA meeting
Week 39, September 25, 2001.
Status of the ring: We have had a lot of cooling water problems during the past week. One of the pumps in the cooling
tower kept blowing its fuse. The problem was finally localised and fixed Monday morning. In addition, there were a few
problems with one of the Q-pole supplies. This was fixed Saturday, and we think we know how to prevent the problem
in the future.
The past few days, we have had higher currents again, and hope to increase the stored current further during the next
weeks.
We have set up a position measurement system on the button pick-ups in the undulator section, and found, that we can
determine the position with an accuracy of about 10 microns ! Using this system, we have discovered, that the vertical
position moves as much as 100 microns when the undulator moves. This is because the orbit does not pass through the
centre of the quadrupoles. At a later date (next run, probably), we will correct this, which will give a more stable beam
for all beamlines.
The BLIS workshop will be held next week, and anyone is welcome to attend the talks. Only those who have registered
can participate in coffee, lunch etc.
ELISA is now running negative fullerene ions.
Remember the ISA seminar by Cedric Dicko on Investigations of spider silk using Circular Dichroism. The seminar
will be held on Wednesday (Tomorrow!) at 13:15 in 732.
