ISA meeting
Week 20, May 15, 2001.
Status of the ring: The Li- run ended Friday. Even though everything was running well, we did not observe the short-lived state we were looking for. Either it is very short-lived
(less than 1 revolution period in the ring), or it is not populated. However, technically the run was a success, since we managed to store an extremely weak beam (down to ~1000
particles/shot) and measure its lifetime.
We have now started running SO2- for the electron cooler group.
The ring vacuum has never been better: After the additional bakeout of the laser interaction section over the weekend, the average pressure in the ring is about 2.5*10-11 mbar!
