ISA meeting
Week 19, May 8, 2001.
Status of the ring: During the past week, we have been running Li-, charge exchanged from Li++, which is produced by the EBIS from a Li+ separator beam. The aim is to study the
lifetime of a metastable excited state. Last Friday, a beam was stored in ASTRID, but no short-lived component was observed. Late Friday, the charge exchange cell ran out of Na. It
has now been refilled and baked, and the studies will continue this week. Currents are low: The EBIS runs at 25 Hz, and the average current is only about 10-14 A, which gives about
1000 particles/shot. Not much, but enough to make lifetime measurements.
Newsletter 8 is on its way: Contributions from two groups are still missing, but we hope to get them this week.
Vacation: When you want to take vacation, you should fill out a form called: Anmodning om ferie (request for vacation). You have to enter the dates for first and last day of your
vacation etc. Everybody who has been employed for a full calendar year has 30 days (5 weeks) of paid vacation per year.
