ISA meeting
Week 24, June 13, 2000.
Status of the ring: ASTRID is still operating Mg+ for the laser-cooling group. There have been some power supply problems from
transients, probably from the thunderstorms. Furthermore, there has been cooling problems with the supply for BMH01. The remaining 1-2
weeks will use Li++ from the EBIS, either charge exchanged to Li+ or to Li-.
The changeover to electrons will be made during the beginning of the shutdown that is in week 27. Again it was pointed out that stability
of the beam size is of utmost importance to some experiments. It has been proposed to try the vertical excitation of the beam with a
white-noise generator instead of the frequency-modulated generator used today.
