ISA meeting

Week 12, March 21, 2000.

Status of the ring: During the past week, we have generally had high currents, but not reached 200 mA every day. Part of the blame lies on the microtron, but we have also seen other effects, i.e. sudden beam losses etc, which cannot be caused by the microtron. Next Monday, we will take a close look at the RF system, which for the moment is our prime suspect.

One of the new correction dipole supplies is ready to be tested. This will take place on Thursday morning from 06:00 to 11:00, during which there will not be a beam in the ring.

The current electron run has been extended. The last week of electrons in this run will now be week 17 (ends Sunday April 30).

The EBIS is running well: There has been over 0.5 microamp of peak pulse current of Ne2+ to Ne5+, which is more than enough for injection and acceleration in ASTRID.

The UV1 monochromator will probably not become operational in this run, but at least we should be able to get gratings before the next electron run, which starts in August. Several groups are waiting to use the instrument, so we will try to get it ready as soon as we can.

The SX-700 has finished a successful run for Haldor Topsøe.
