ISA meeting

Week 18, May 4, 1999.

Status of the ring: The ring is getting ready for the coming ion run. The laser interaction section was baked last week and looks fine.
The RF section was assembled during the past weekend, and is just now cooling off. In this connection, Jens Vestergaard and René Warthoe are acknowledged for their hard work during the 'Bededagsferie' to fix the leaks in the RF section.
The ion separator with the new acceleration column is running Mg+ with 100 % transmission up to Faraday cup 3. The new beam scanner has been tested successfully with this beam.

The microtron still suffers from low emission from the cathode. It is gradually improving, and later today or tomorrow, there should be a beam for the positron group

ELISA has finished the C2H2 run, during which it was cooled down to -40 degrees. Now, tests for the coming ion run on ASTRID are being made, after which the charge-exchange cell will be mounted in the injection beamline together with the new detector chamber.

Next Tuesday, we will try to sum up the changes and modifications necessary for the next electron run, starting in August, so please bring your requests to the meeting.
