The new control system has performed very well during the past week, in which all parts of it have been used. It is a significant improvement compared to the old one.
The microtron had the o-ring in one of the main dipoles changed. It is now under vacuum again, and it looks good. A new type of o-ring has been used, which is slightly larger then the old one, and which should be more resistant to radiation damage.
ELISA is now running various metal clusters, and is performing very well. It is extremely well suited for this type of study due to the good vacuum and electrostatic optics, which allow all ions to be run at a given energy with the same ring settings.
The SGM II success will be celebrated this afternoon at 14:00 in the ring hall, outside ASTRID. There will be drinks and snacks.
