ISA meeting

Week 15, April 7, 1998.

Status of the ring: Everything was running well until the power failure yesterday morning. While recovering from the power failure, the injection beamline was accidentally vented. It was baked last night, and will be ready again some time today. Other minor problems caused by the failure have all been fixed.

Welcome to Zheshen Li, who will be working on our surface science beamlines.

The onduline: There is a small problem with one of the scrapers in the reactor chamber. It will be opened and fixed today. The monochromator is pumped and baked, and the vacuum is OK.

An infrared, pulsed laser is in operation in the ring hall during the next few days. Warnings are posted, and blackboards have been put up to block access. Do not enter the laser area without making absolutely sure that the laser is stopped. Peter Balling is responsible for the laser system.

The SX-700 measurements last week was a success, PH reports, and the planned experiments have been going very well.

The EBIS is doing very well. Last week we injected beam from the small separator into the trap in the EBIS, and this week we will try to capture it in the trap and extract it again.

The new DAF-program is complete, and is now awaiting tests. It will be initially be installed on ELISA. It will make DAF file modification and load a lot easier and faster.

Easter vacation: There will be beam during the Easter vacation (9-13/4), except on Sunday (12/4) . There will be one injection every day, around 10:30. Modifications to this plan will be written on our status page on the net.
