ISA meeting

Week 16, April 15, 1997.

Status of the ring: There is really nothing new to tell - the ring has been running very well in the past week - good current and long lifetimes. We now have 1½ weeks left of this run. The last day of electrons this time will be Sunday April 27th, and ion run 1/97 will start on Monday May 12th.

ELISA will initially be placed in the new hall, in the corner where the concrete blocks are stored now. The blocks will be used for shielding purposes elsewhere. US reports, that the drawings for the ELISA supports are now in the workshop. It is expected to assemble ELISA before the summer vacation.

The electron cavity will be renovated during the coming ion run. It is still uncertain whether the new plungers will be finished during this ion run.

The injection beamline is now being cleaned. It was very dirty especially in the vicinity of the charge exchange cell. It will be mounted during the coming shut down period.

The undulator is still performing well, and DF and his people are happy with the beam. JvE reports, that the energy resolution of the monochromator is not quite as good as expected, but since the beam is usable and the monochromator will only be used for this experiment, this problem is not so serious.

The control system: TW reports, that a separate loop will be installed, such that the control system will run on its own net, separate from the DFI net. There will be a connection between the two, but this system will ensure that we can run irrespective of the state the DFI net

A new ring?: YS has made new proposals for a 1.4 GeV electron ring in the new hall. This ring will have room for 3-4 long undulators. The plans may be seen on the board in our meeting room.

Safety: There will be a meeting in the ISA safety organization on Wednesday April 23rd.
You are all welcome to the meeting, which will take place in our meeting room at 10:30.
