ConSys Manager versions
This document contains version information for the ConSysManager program.
Bugs/Ideas:
W1: Installing the kernel as a service does not give the nessary logon right (if needed). (The account for the service has to have some specific rights which are normally created by the servicemanager. JSN 030603
W1: More status information, including: Individual service installed and running status, group member ship, failure, (instead of or as a supplement to the status sign), kernel version information. Could also include information obtained by connecting to a running client, (running as service as well as application). In future versions of the ConSyskernel, the client should be able to deliver status information like running time, number of connected clients - maybe even a list of who is connected. All information above can be displayed in a status view - or/and by changing the tree view to a list view. (TW020927)
W1: Possibility to distribute new consys executables with the manager (single or - perhaps later multiple computers). (TW020927)
W1: Implement 'refresh' of status. (TW020927)
E1: Wrong symbols/icons when ConSysExe share is missing or has wrong security options. (Comment by TW020927: This is how it should be - or at least how it is. There is no special icon to display when the share is missing. The manager will first detect the missing possibility to access the when the configuration is opened. In this case, a correct error message is given. In future code (see 'W1: More status information ...' above), a test for access to the configuration file can be added to the ComputerMonitor start test. )
E2: No error message when service can not be started due to missing access to configuration file (missing share, wrong security rights etc.) Error check code that with feed back to the service manager need to be implemented in ConSys kernel service first. (TW020927)
Version 1.17.72.82 (X/10-2002 TW):
NEW FEATURES:
Version 1.25.95.129 (26/7-2004 TW):
New update method: When a unupdated computer is selected, a new update thread is for that item immediately. The thread continues servicing updates together with the original update threads.
* Removed old code for three based view, CConSysManagerView.
Version 1.17.72.81 (27/9-2002 TW):
NEW FEATURES:
Service handling reprogrammed: The handling of service installation and start/stop is now separated in to simple functions. Status and error handling has been improved. The service can now be installed correctly including account information.
W1: Possible to edit a device name. (JSN/LL 020619) Implemented by 'standard' edit of tree controls, that is 'slow double click'
W1: Would be nice with the UniqueDeviceID in the computer device list, for instance in parenthesis after the device nr. (JSN 020412).
W1: Different save button's for local document and central ConSys configuration button. Will increase clearness. (TW020929)
CORRECTED BUGS:
E1: Install as service when service already installed as service resets RUN AS to SYSTEM. Avoid this or display a warning message. The new implementation of all service handling corrects this problem.
E1: Installing as service should not start the service, because the logon account should be changed before the service can start. (JSN/TW 020827). Reimplementation of service handling, see above.
E1: No warning if computer device list is closed without save. (LL/JSN 020829) - SetModifiedFlag set when new device inserted, deleted or opened for editing.
E1: Crash, when save is pressed with open configuration dialog. () Save disabled for DeviceDoc class.
E1: If a computer is not defined in the ConSys computer database table, running the ConSysManager will result in an error saying ODBC not setup, whereas it should have said "This Computer is not defined in ConSys Computer Database Table". (JSN/TW 020619) Was already corrected.
Version 1.16.60.65 (21/3-2002 TW):
The newest versions could not start on unconfigurated systems. Has been corrected.
Version 1.1.12.18 (18/3-98 TW):
Error corrected: Crash, when a computer is opened - closed and reopened: This error is actually an error in the dynamic load/unload procedure of the ConSys dlls. The unload method has been corrected in dlls where they were wrong.
Version 1.1.2.8 (16/9-98 TW):
Last configuration file stored in registry:
An 'easy start' button setting loading the last configuration file has been added.
Version 1.1.2.4 (6/7-98 KTN):
